Not interchangeable.
ReVanced Manager does not install or update old Vanced apps, and Vanced Manager cannot patch anything. Moving from one to the other means a fresh setup.
Two different models
Vanced Manager was a delivery app. Team Vanced built modified YouTube and YouTube Music packages, hosted them, and used the manager to deliver them. Installation was simple, but everything depended on one team's servers and legal standing. When Google sent a cease-and-desist letter and the team shut the backend down, every copy of the manager lost its purpose at once.
ReVanced Manager is a patching tool. According to its README, it uses ReVanced Patcher to apply patches of your choice to Android apps, and lets you manage patches, apps, signing and other settings. Patching happens on your device, so the project does not host modified copies of other companies' apps.
Is ReVanced the official successor?
No source we checked describes ReVanced as an official continuation by Team Vanced. It runs as its own project in a separate GitHub organization. Its repository uses the tagline “Continuing the legacy of Vanced,” which reflects inspiration rather than shared ownership. Team Vanced said Vanced would not return under a new name or logo.

What to weigh before switching
- Maintenance: a maintained project can respond to app and Android changes. Vanced Manager cannot.
- Effort: patching takes more steps than Vanced Manager's one-tap installs and requires reading the project's documentation.
- Terms of service: modifying an app such as YouTube may conflict with that service's terms, whichever tool you use.
- Where you get it: ReVanced's README names revanced.app and its GitHub releases as download sources. Look-alike sites exist for popular projects, so go to the source directly.
