Vanced Manager FAQ
Straight answers to what people ask most about Vanced Manager today: whether it still works, which versions existed, how microG fits in, and how to stay safe or remove it cleanly. Every answer can be linked directly.
Availability
Can I still use Vanced Manager to install Vanced?
No. The manager downloaded every file from Team Vanced's servers, and the team announced in March 2022 that the backend had been shut down and its download sources removed. The app may still open, but it has nothing official to install. Source: discontinuation notice (opens in a new tab)
Why was Vanced discontinued?
Team Vanced said it ended the project for legal reasons. Its notice explains that Google sent a cease-and-desist letter over the use of YouTube's branding and asked for links distributing the apps to be removed. The team stated that Vanced would not return under another name.
Where can I download the Vanced Manager APK?
There is no official download left. The final release page on GitHub lists only source code archives, and the old manager.apk link returns a 404. Our download page explains what remains and why we link to the release instead of hosting a file.
Versions and compatibility
What was the last version of Vanced Manager?
Version 2.6.2, codename “Crimson”, published on GitHub on October 11, 2021. Its notes list a root installer fix, a Magisk check and general optimizations. Anything labeled newer did not come from Team Vanced.
How many versions were released?
19 releases appear on GitHub, from 1.0.0 (June 30, 2020) to 2.6.2. The full list with dates and notes is on the old versions page.
Which Android versions did it support?
The 2.6.2 build config sets a minimum of Android 5.0 (API 21) and targets Android 12 (API 31). Android 12 support was added in 2.6.1. Later Android versions were released after the project ended and were never supported.
Was Vanced Manager ever on Google Play?
No. Team Vanced distributed it as an APK through its own website, Discord and GitHub, which is why installing it required allowing apps from unknown sources.
Safety and removal
Is it safe to install Vanced Manager today?
The original open-source app was published by Team Vanced, but no original APK can be obtained or verified from them now. Copies found elsewhere cannot be checked against an official source, and even a genuine copy cannot install anything. We see no benefit that outweighs that risk.
How do I uninstall Vanced Manager?
Go to Settings > Apps, find Vanced Manager (com.vanced.manager) and tap Uninstall. Remove YouTube Vanced, Music Vanced and Vanced microG the same way if you no longer use them. For root installs, see the uninstall section of the installation guide.
Play Protect flagged a Vanced file. What should I do?
Do not install it, and do not turn Play Protect off. It checks apps from outside the Play Store for potentially harmful behavior, and an old, unverifiable APK is exactly what it is designed to catch. Source: Google Play Help (opens in a new tab)
